Broughton, my great-grandfather Raymond's elder brother, was
a coach smith in Wrights Yard, off Ber Street, in Norwich. Many
yards or "lokes" run off Ber Street at right-angles,
and though many of these have been modernised or knocked down,
Ber Street itself retains much of the ambience of 1900 - though
petrol fumes have replaced the sheep, horse and cattle droppings. |
