BOLAND (1859-1929) |

Alice Boland was born on 30th April 1859 in Cuckney, Nottinghamshire
and was the daughter of Thomas Boland (1831) and Ann Giligan. Both
parents were from County Kildare in Ireland. In 1861 she was living
at 48 Newgate Street in Worksop. There is no mention of her or her
parents in the 1871 census, and the family may well have moved back
to Ireland. In 1881 she was aged 21, single and was working as a servant
in the family of John Brewertin, a Manchester pawnbroker. In 1891
she was still working as a domestic servant, this time in the household
of mill furnisher Joseph Dee at 41 Portman Street in Moss Side in
Manchester. She was living at 26 Henry Street, Manchester. She was
living at 23 Hervey Road, Gorton when she married John Waite born
in 1860 at Chorlton Register Office on 20th March 1897. In 1901 she
was aged 38 and living at 18 Samuel Street in Gorton. She died from
bronchitis and influenza on 22nd February 1929 at 13 Leicester Avenue
in Horwich.
