Edmund
Houchen was born on 10th September 1804 in Hingham and was the son
of Edmund Houchen (1762) and Rebecca King. He married Mary Parfoot
from Scoulton on 19th February 1827. In 1841 he was living in Stone
Lane, Hingham, and was working as a butcher. From 1851 to 1871 he
was a master butcher with a shop in the Market Place in Hingham. In
1881, Edmund was retired and living at 101 Gladstone Street, Heigham,
with his wife and daughter Mary. By 1891 he was a widower and had
moved to 40 Gladstone Street - next door to his son John at no. 38.
He died in Heigham, Norwich, on 4th November 1896, age 92.
