George
Houchen was born on 21st August 1835 in Hingham and was the son of
Edmund Houchen (1804) and Mary Parfoot. He was baptised on 26th August.
In 1841 he was living in Stone Lane, Hingham. In 1851 he was living
in Hingham. He married Ellen Maria Semmence on 31st March 1857. By
1861 he was a journeyman butcher, and he was working as a butcher
in Hingham in 1871. He was present at the death of his cousin, Charles Pomfrey, on 11th April, 1871. He died on 28th March 1877 and was buried in Hingham
churchyard on 2nd April.
