John
Houchen was born on 16th May 1841 in Hingham and was the son of Edmund
Houchen (1804) and Mary Parfoot. In 1841 he was living in Stone Lane,
Hingham. In 1851 he was aged 9 and was at school in Hingham. By 1861
he was a journeyman tailor. In early 1861 he was working as a journeyman
tailor in Hingham and living in the Market Place. He married a woman
called Lydia in late 1861. In 1881 he was working as a tailor. He
was living at 102 Gladstone Street, Heigham. In 1891 and 1901 he was
working as a tailor and living at 38 Gladstone Street in Norwich.
