Mary
Houchen was born around 1788 in Hingham and was the daughter of Edmund
Houchen (1762), a Hingham butcher, and Rebecca King. She married Thomas
Pomfrey (1786) at St Augustine's church, Norwich, on 11th March 1809.
Mary was present at the death of her father in 1838. In 1841 she was
aged 50 and was living at Thorpe Hall, Hingham. In 1851 she was aged
62, was listed as a servant's wife and was living at Hall Moor, Hingham.
In 1861 she was listed as living at Fleeter's Hill in Hingham. She
was present at the death of her mother, Rebecca, in Hingham in 1861.
In 1871 she was living with her son Charles in the Market Place, Hingham.
She was also present at the death of her husband in Hingham in 1864.
In 1881 she was aged 92 and was living in Church Yard, Hingham. She
died of old age in Hingham on 6th March 1885, aged 97.
