She was the daughter of William Oldfield and Salome Elizabeth Emily Broughton (1849). She was the niece of John Broughton (1809). In 1881 she was living at 8 Salisbury Road, Magpie Terrace, Norwich St Augustine. In 1891 she was living with her parents at 27 Simpson Street, Battersea and working as a factory labourer.
