Walter Robert Pomfrey was born in 1879 in Lowestoft and was the son
of Edmund Pomfrey (1843) and Mary Timbers. In 1881 he was aged 2 and
was living at 2 County Villas in Lowestoft. In 1891 he was aged 11,
was at school and was living at 4 Sydney Cottages, County Villas in
Lowestoft. In 1901 he was aged 21, was a bookshop assistant and was
living at 3 Arthur Street, Jarrow, Durham. He married Hannah Woodhouse,
the war widow of Alfred Stewart, on 3rd November 1919 in St Mark's,
Jarrow.
