MATTHEW
TIMBERS (1801 - 1878)

Matthew
Timbers was born on 23rd September 1801 in Whitwell and was the son
of Matthew Timbers (1760) and Esther Dewing. He was a labourer when
he married Mary Peacock (1806) in Sco Ruston on 26th March 1824 but
became a shoemaker. He was living in Coltishall between 1824 and 1829.
Mary died and he either married or lived with Dinah May. In 1841 he
was living in Binham. In 1844 he was mistakenly given as "William
Timbers" on his son's marriage certificate. In 1851 he was working
as a shoemaker in 3 Railway Passage, King's Lynn. By 1861 the family
had moved to Norwich and was living in Fishers Lane in the St. Lawrence
district. By 1871 they had moved to Ninham's Court in the St. Giles
district. Matthew died in Ninham's Court from senile decay in 1878, aged 77.
